I'm liking Hickman's FF quite a bit, so maybe I ought to give Secret Warriors another look. I just thought the Leviathan graphics stuff just sort of deflated the issue's momentum, rather than giving it a proper ending. I kept thinking it was going to transition back to Fury and Garrett, but nothing doing.

Hulk and Secret Warriors were important to their respective series', Warriors moreso than Hulk.
Hulk moved the framework of the series infinitesimally forward. The series as a whole, btw, has been pretty good. (Far better than Hulk or Skar).
Secret Warriors laid the groundwork for everything to come in the series. In reality the backmatter WAS the scoop, with the revelation of Leviathan being incredibly important to the series as a whole.
So, while I'd recommend Incredible Hulk as a fun read, I'd recommend Secret Warriors as an excellent read. Not because the concept is good (it's not - I blame Bendis), but because Hickman is doing excellent work with Fury.

Finally, while Dark Reign is somewhat tedious, it's also been fun. While too many of the stories coming out are similar, the overall concept generates lots of interesting conflict, and storytelling needs that.
