Podcast - Episode 128: Superhero Matchmaking

Capture.JPG

Holy smokes I forgot to post this blog post for the episode.

There was a new episode this week! We talk about some superhero stuff that is vaguely related to Valentine's Day!

Here are some pictures of the ridiculous (late) birthday gifts I gave to Dave:

Oh, and hey. If you would like to pre-order my book, you can do so here!

You might like this book if you like:

- adorable underemployed smoothie clerks;
- lonely, undersexed NHL superstars;
- awkward attempts at romantic gestures;
- a man finding the courage to live his life the way he wants to;
- smut

Episode 127 - The Positive Influence of Super Heroes

21_WF_195.jpg

This week we are talking about the positive influence that fictional super heroes have had on our lives.

But first, we are getting in a fight about the Ant-Man and Wasp trailer.

You wanna see what made Sebastian Stan laugh? It's this!

He's probably still laughing about it. And obsessing over the witty angel who gifted him with such a delightful joke.

Episode 126 - Scheduling Stress

This week we are talking about scheduling in the comic book industry, and I swear it's more interesting than you would think. I hope so, anyway.

Hillary joins us again to talk about the latest episode of The X-Files. We are also joined by two fighting cats.

We lay down some unpopular opinions about Logan and The Shape of Water, in an effort to lose most of our listeners.

But, I will win you back with this link to Sebastian Stan's Hugo Boss modelling video:

Helllllllllooooo Summer Soldier!

Enjoy the episode. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Podcast - Episode 125: Embarrassing Comic Book Purchases

Gambit-mini-V1-1.jpg

We are joined by two guests this week to celebrate our 125th epsiode: Hillary Titley and Denzel Noylander. We publicly admit some of our more embarrassing comic book purchases.

Hillary and I came straight from a screening of Call Me By Your Name to record this episode, so we are very distracted.

I mean...

So cute!!!!

Anyway.

This is the little thing I wrote about that 1993 Hockey Digest article. I'll write a follow-up soon about my thoughts on it now that I've read it again. Huge thanks again to Johnathan!!!

Podcast - Episode 124: Fandom!

ms marvel fanfic.png

Hillary joins us again, and I used it as an opportunity for GIRL TALK!!!!!!!

Sort of. Hillary and I are both no strangers to fandom. Dave maybe has a different approach to the properties and creators that he loves. A *normal* approach, some might call it. One that allows you to function in your day to day life without thinking things like "Man, I'll bet Mulder would really hate this bus ride I'm on right now."

Anyway, we have a lot of thoughts about engaging with fandom, as opposed to merely being a fan, and why the fan experiences of a straight white cis male might be different from, y'know, everyone else when it comes to consuming culture.

But we also talk about comic books. And X-Files.

Anyway, LOOK AT DILTON!!!!!

Dilton, Riverdale doesn't deserve you.

Podcast - Episode 123: Comic Book Sequels

Secret_Wars_II_(UK)_Vol_1_32.jpg

Are comic book sequels every any good? Ehn...sometimes. Sort of. We talk about a bunch of them in this episode, good and bad.

We are also joined by Hillary Titley this week to talk about the X-Files, and also about I, Tonya (in what is possibly the loosest segment of 'This Week in Winter Soldier' ever).

Dave and I get into it again over Batman: Year Two. That damn comic is going to end our friendship one day. We did an episode once about things we disagree on, and it got pretty heated.

My thoughts on Batman: Year Two, are well-documented.

Next week we are gonna talk about fandom and reminisce about fandoms we have been a part of and how we feel about fandom in general today.
